Where to find your German Year internship

The German job boards and RSS feeds worth searching, in one place. Below them: what an AI assistant can search for you, and how Claude can help you write your CV and cover letter. Every link opens the original site in a new tab.

Job boards

Open a board and search for “Praktikum” (internship) or “Pflichtpraktikum” (mandatory internship).

backinjob RSS feeds

These category feeds may include jobs other than internships.

These are RSS feeds, not websites

What they are and how to use them

An RSS feed is a list of the newest job adverts, written for apps to read rather than for people. If you open one of these links in your browser, you will see raw code or the browser will download a file, not a normal web page. That is expected.

To use a feed, copy its link (right-click it, or press and hold on a phone) and paste it into an RSS reader: a free app such as Feedly or Inoreader that checks your feeds for you and shows every new advert as soon as it is posted. Each category has its own feed, so add only the ones that fit your major.

How Claude can help with your CV and cover letter, and which of these sites it can search for you

Tip: write your CV and cover letter with Claude in Word

Official from Anthropic

Claude for Word is Anthropic’s official add-in for Microsoft Word. It opens in a sidebar inside Word, so you can draft a new CV or cover letter, or update the one you already have, and keep your formatting. With tracked changes on, every edit Claude makes is one you accept or reject yourself. It works on the paid Claude plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise) with Word from Microsoft 365.

Claude Cowork, in the Claude desktop app, can also create and edit Word files in a folder you give it, for example one cover letter for each internship you apply to.

Paste the internship advert in and ask Claude to match your CV and cover letter to it. Then read every line before you send it: the facts in your CV must stay true.

How to set up Claude for Word

Indeed – the one site with an official AI connection

Indeed has an official MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector for Claude. When you set it up in your Claude account, Claude can search Indeed jobs by keyword, city, country, and job type such as “internship.” It can also open one posting to read its details and company information.

This connection works only when enabled in your Claude account. It does not make Claude a general web browser. Results generally give reliable job titles and posting dates, but pay and internship duration are often missing. Check those details on the original ad.

How Indeed’s connector works

Why AI can't search every job website

Many job websites restrict automated access, require logins, or do not provide public APIs. These limitations can prevent AI assistants and search tools from accessing all internship listings.

Why do older internships appear?

Even when you request internships posted today, search engines may return older listings because:

  • Search results may be outdated or cached.
  • Websites sometimes refresh old listings, making them appear new.
  • Publication dates may be missing or inaccurate.
  • AI search tools cannot always verify when a listing was originally posted.

What can you do?

Visit the original job posting to verify its publication date, availability, and application deadline. AI search results may not always be complete or up to date.
